35 weeks!

I hope everybody had a great Easter!

Okay, we're getting serious, now, people...I'm now officially at the gestational age where nobody will stop me if I go into labor! Wow!

I think she may have had a little growth spurt. At this stage, she's supposed to be putting on at least an ounce a day. At my appointment, my fundal height was at 36 cm, so we no longer have the 2 cm discrepancy. Heart rate was 140's, and the doctor let me do my own GBS culture swab, since I know how to do it on obstetric patients. I didn't cheat, I did it right. If I'm GBS positive, I want to know for sure! I'm glad he didn't have to do it, because I was running late to the hospital from working in the OR today and still had my sweaty TED hose and support garments on.

A friend asked me yesterday if I am ready for her to come already, and if I'm tired of being pregnant yet. I told her that I'm fine if little one decides to hang in there for a while. I like being able to sleep for four consecutive hours right now with the only interruptions being potty breaks. I enjoy being pregnant, except that today it did make my maneuverability in the OR a little harder. I can only suck it in so far to get past the suction and sterile field!

All right, here's the photos for this week. I took these just now, still greasy-skinned after work and dinner:

And our developmental update (babycenter.com):
Your baby doesn't have much room to maneuver now that she's over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds (pick up a honeydew melon). Because it's so snug in your womb, she isn't likely to be doing somersaults anymore, but the number of times she kicks should remain about the same. Her kidneys are fully developed now, and her liver can process some waste products. Most of her basic physical development is now complete — she'll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.

I am amazed that we're now in the home stretch. I'm so curious about what kind of labor I'll have...spontaneous, induced, augmented? The delivery? I've got so many different scenarios in my head, it's dizzying at times. How awesome this whole process is! How blessed we are!

Thanks for checking in, I think the entries will now be a little boring until I go into labor, since not much more fetal development is in store besides fattening up at this point. I'll try not to bore you!
