Where did March go?!
Well, I didn't intend on only making monthly entries, but somehow it happened. As my Dad would say: "Sorry 'bout dat!"
Not many photos for this month, since Maddy prefers to hold the camera rather than pose for one. In most photos she's either moving around so much that she's a big blur, or she's got her hands outstretched and blocking her face as she approaches me to grab the camera. So much for quality photographs of this precious time.
As for development, Maddy now weighs 27.25 pounds, as of last week. Not sure how tall, will have to get back to you on that one, but she can easily wear 24 month and some 2T clothing. We're finding it harder and harder to hold her for longer than a few minutes, since she's getting heavier. Plus, she's so squirmy. Even when she snuggles with us before bedtime, she's always kicking a leg around or levitating her arm around.
She's talking so much, too. Still a lot of unintelligible babble, but some of it we're able to translate. It took us a while to recognize that she was actually saying "pillow" and not "poo". No wonder she would get frustrated when we led her to the potty whenever she said it. Now she makes sure she signs "poop" when she says it, to clarify. She can recognize the letters of the alphabet, and count to five. It's adorable to hear her counting her fingers over the baby monitor when she wakes up: "Wah, Two, Sree, Foh, Fye!"
She also socializes with her stuffed buddy, Tigger as soon as she wakes, "Tiddah, you otay?" Which is usually followed by her smacking him and then tossing him out of the crib. "Otay?" But she loves him and shares everything with him:
The poor toy has been washed so many times, his stripes are fading. Only his eyebrows have gotten darker. It's like Tigger has hit middle age. Heh.
She has a pretty bad ear infection in her right ear that we discovered last monday. She's had a runny nose for a while, which led to a cough, and lately, some midnight wakings. I figured it was allergies, teething (her canine/eye teeth), plus normal developmental sleep interruptions. Which it still could be attributed to all of those things, except whatever was rolling around her sinuses managed to roll into her ears and get infected. So she's currently on oral antibiotics as well as the antibiotic ear drops they gave her when she had her ear tubes placed. She's already less snotty and not coughing anymore. The sleep interruptions now seem like they're from teething, and I can see two little white points protruding from her upper gums (the vampire teeth). Her pediatrician will address the allergy possibility at her follow-up appointment, once we know the ear infection is taken care of. The doctor said that it's common for allergies to show up at this age, since she's already been through one pollen season to be sensitized. Plus, Aaron and I both suffer from allergies, and the pollen here is so thick, our cars are coated in yellow dust after a 20 minute drive.
Well, that's about it for now. Thanks for stopping by. I'll try to get better at updating, as long as Maddy gets more comfortable in front of a camera.
