Fourth of July

This was Maddie's second Independence Day. It was pretty cold for July, that's why the kids are wearing long sleeves and sweaters. We spent a couple hours at a block party in a friend's neighborhood. Their son, Winston, had lots of fun toys for the kids to ride on. As we were leaving, they had just inflated the bounce house, so we missed out on that ankle-turning fun. This is Winston pushing Maddie along in his toy truck:
That night, we got the kids in bed before the big fireworks started. They were fast asleep during then entire run of fireworks, which seemed to last until midnight. I was amazed that they could sleep through all that loud booming, yet will stir if I don't tiptoe softly enough in their rooms to check on them.
