Maybe it was the last week of being upright all day in orientation, but I'm finally feeling the effects of a heavy, occupied uterus on my spine, and the pains that a shift in my center of gravity can bring. I'm not TOBP (tired of being pregnant) yet, but I can see how it evolves. At least I can still pop my back. I think I'll be miserable when I lose that ability. Who'd have thought that back-popping would be considered a luxury?
Aaron and I had a great weekend, I even got to dress up the belly and go to a wedding! One of our friends from Yokosuka had her wedding in Mobile, AL (one hour from here), and we went to celebrate their joyful day with her and her new husband! So here's a photo of the gussied-up
belly:
I guess you can't tell I even had makeup on, but I felt cute anyways. There was another pregnant guest there, too, so I felt a little more relaxed. My bracelet was a gift from my awesome friend Susan (whose friend makes jewelry), it has a little charm that is a pair of baby girl shoes. Adorable!
Our babycenter.com update for this week:
By now, your baby weighs 3.75 pounds (pick up a large jicama) and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in your uterus. You're gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to your baby. In fact, she'll gain a third to half of her birth weight during the next 7 weeks as she fattens up for survival outside the womb. She now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). Her skin is becoming soft and smooth as she plumps up in preparation for birth.
I'd been procrastinating the nursery decorations over the crib for a few weeks, now. I finally just got up there and put the vinyl decals up. I'm still not sure how I like the colors (I bought the vinyl on eBay, so I couldn't be sure about how the colors would match), but at least they're up on the wall. I can always order new colors later if they bug me too much. I'm also not exactly sure I like how I arranged the "waves"...they look more like steps. I had meant for it to look completely different, but this ended up being the pattern that worked best and didn't bring the decals too close to the ground where she could start plucking them off the walls and eating them when she starts walking.
Our stroller set arrived the other day, too. I got the bright red color, so if anybody tries to run off with it, it's easy to see. I just haven't taken a photo of it. It's a Chicco Cortina stroller system in Synergy (red). I love, love, love the one-handed folding mechanism, I don't have to bend over or squat to fold it, and it is free-standing once folded. Sweet!
That's about it for this week. I'm in nursing orientation (mostly computer class time) all this week, and have my prenatal appointment on wednesday. So maybe another post to come then. Until next time, take care!
I think the decorations look just fine. She's going to love looking up at the bright colors. Your belly is just so darn cute. I can't say it enough!! I think you are glowing and gorgeous, as always. I love and miss you. Hope your orientation goes well this week. Can't believe you only have 8 weeks left to go! WOW!!
