29 weeks!

I finally found the tripod for the camera, so I balanced it and the camera on a shoe box in the crib to take this photo while Aaron is at work. I'm glad it didn't fall over the crib railing! I forgot to have Aaron take a photo of my belly yesterday until after we had already eaten a big Village Inn breakfast.
Anyway, here I am in front of the coordinating wall hanging at the changing table. I tied it to a wooden washi paper frame and hung that on two hooks with Aaron's help. We'll see how long it takes kiddo to yank it down at changing time. I'll probably store some distracting toys in it so she lays still enough to clean and change her diaper.
Here's our babycenter.com developmental update:
Your baby now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (like a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. Her muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and her head is growing bigger to make room for her developing brain. To meet her increasing nutritional demands, you'll need plenty of protein, vitamins C, folic acid, and iron. And because her bones are soaking up lots of calcium, be sure to drink your milk (or find another good source of calcium, such as cheese, yogurt, or enriched orange juice). This trimester, about 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited in your baby's hardening skeleton each day.
I tell you, she is getting so strong already. It's so funny for me to see her movements on my belly. It's not like I'm not used to seeing and feeling fetal movements when I'm working. It's just so weird that now I'm feeling it first hand. I have no problems getting my calcium, since my snack of choice (other than pickles) is a yogurt cup and a piece of fruit. It would seem her bones are definitely soaking it in!

I spent a while online looking for a really great area rug for the nursery. I even bounced ideas off my brother, who was very helpful. Many of you know that I am a slave to "evilBay". But I have found some awesome baby bargains there! It's only natural that I found a rug on there. Here it is (I think it's lovely):

This rug originally retailed at $399, and I got it NEW in its original wrapping for $175 (that includes shipping)! I remember seeing it in Pottery Barn Kids' catalog last year. So it must have been discontinued by them and passed on to this online retailer. Hence, the lower price. I had found a rug in this year's catalog ($$$!) that would have gone perfectly, but it had a white/ivory background and would have just been a stain-magnet. Not that I won't get stains on pink, but it's better than a white rug that costs a fortune.

That's it for today, I think. I'd better get some food in me, she's starting to protest against my growling stomach. Thanks for checking in!

  2. Wow, I love that carpet. It's good you got something that doesn't match exactly...I think it adds more character and life to a room to have stuff coordinate but not rigidly – you know, the Domino aesthetic!
