2 week well-baby appointment

Today was Maddie's first routine doctor's visit in the Pediatrics Clinic. It was great, she was very calm and quietly alert during her exam. At her 2-day follow-up nurse visit, her weight was down about 6.5 ounces (5.9% of her birth weight). Today, she was up to 7 pounds, 7 ounces and grew half an inch. I knew she was putting on weight, but I was pleasantly surprised to see those numbers pop up on the scale. Aaron met us in the clinic for the appointment and then we went upstairs to show her to his co-workers, who last saw her as a wrinkly newborn. They all seemed to think Madelyn looks like me. Of course, they've never seen Aaron's baby photos.
Lola and I took Maddie shopping after her appointment. I had to change her in the women's bathroom, where she proceeded to pee and poop all over the changing table. She's going through most of her wardrobe, after all! It bugged me that people kept walking by and ogling her. I kept worrying that they were going to touch her with gross bathroom hands. What REALLY bugged me was while I was changing her diaper, with her girl parts open to the world and a pink onesie bunched up under her armpits, people still asked me, "Is it a boy or a girl?" Er...duh?! Leave me alone and just go pee, people! Jeez! I prefer the bathrooms where the changing station is in the larger handicapped stall, so you can shut people out of your business. Even better, those family bathrooms.
Anyway, aside from our shopping bathroom blowout, the day went great. No photos today, I was a bit worn out, sorry.
Gotta catch some sleep while the window of opportunity is open.
Good night, folks...thanks for checking in.

  2. I went through that same scenario around 2 weeks with patrick!! Just put it in Japan and imagine all those ladies surrounding me in the bathroom in yokohama (by the way..japanese changing tables are not always great). I did get a kick out of your story, however. Those blowouts are just amazing sometimes! Glad you are getting out! Cute little one you have!
