Maddie is getting a lot more head and trunk control, we think she's not too far from rolling over one of these days. She gets to about halfway before her arm stops her or she just can't figure out how to swing her leg over. If she starts rolling over from her back to her tummy, we'll need to stop swaddling her in case she manages to do it in her sleep. That way she'll have her arms free to push her face up off the bed to breathe.
Part of me is sad to have to stop swaddling her. It's just one of those things that make her such a "baby" to me. We swaddle newborns at work, I'm just so used to babies needing to be swaddled. To not swaddle Maddie means that she's growing, which is something I'm going to have to grow with, too. *sigh* I wish she could be a 3-month-old for a lot longer...
I'm too nervous to drop the swaddle cold turkey. So I started "weaning" the swaddle today. Just one arm out for naps. If it starts to interfere with her going to sleep, then I'll put both arms in again. Thankfully, she went down easy for this nap because I kept her up about half an hour longer than she's used to (I took her to Target and JoAnn's next door). I'm just waiting to see if she starts bonking herself in the head with that arm, it looks like it's at the ready to do so! (Pink camo Miracle Blanket courtesy of Tito 'turo)
