...for part-time child care.
I've looked at two reputable facilities, only to find out that they only offer full-time care. I'm looking for 2 days a week, since that's about how often I'll be working. I'll work every other weekend, too, but Aaron says those will be his Daddy weekends.
I spent two hours on the phone today calling several places close to here, as well as a couple that are close to Aaron's work, in case he has to drop her off on the way to work. We refer to the separate places we work as "my hospital" and "his hospital". Thankfully, the places close to his hospital have drop-in care, in case I get called in for an extra shift.
Most of the other places have set days, like only tuesdays and thursdays for $60/week or monday-wednesday-friday for $90/week. It's just a matter of their availability. The place that is closest to our house will have an opening in their infant room in May when one of their little boys turns 1. I'm at the top of the waiting list, but probably won't need care until I go back to work in mid- to late July. Not sure if I can secure that spot or not. But there are about four other options if that doesn't pan out.
I'm very glad I started searching this early. The Florida Department of Children and Family Services website makes it easy to search and also view their inspection reports for different facilities. I plan on visiting these facilities next week. Wish me luck!
