FUO

aka Fever of Unknown Origin.
Poor Madz got sent home from daycare tuesday with a fever (again, not sure if they added a degree like last time she had a "fever"). This time it was verified by Daddy, who selflessly dropped all the work he had piled on his desk to pick her up. I was working that day also, and my cell didn't get coverage in whatever room I was in for them to tell me she had to be sent home, so they called Aaron. *Sorry Daddy!*
She wasn't acting like herself for a couple days: she was clingy, wouldn't eat her oatmeal or cereal, and she actually even fell asleep in our arms...which she never does. But she was still alert at waketimes, somewhat playful, and all smiles when we spoke to her. I only had to give her tylenol once on thursday morning, and she hasn't had a true fever since then, despite being a little hot once in a while. So thankfully, she's now afebrile. But she still won't eat her cereal, and has had a couple rounds of diarrhea (in the potty, thank goodness...I'd despise cleaning up diarrhea in a diaper). She continues to nurse great, so I know she's not dehydrated. Seems she's on the mend, though I'm not going to take her anywhere for the next couple days. She's not snotty, coughing, or cutting any teeth that I can tell, and her ears don't seem to bother her, so other than maybe a little stomach bug, I can't explain what the problem was.
However, now that she's getting better, I just took my temperature, and now I have a fever! Ugh! I've had a weird dizzy/cloudy feeling in my head all afternoon, and I was in denial that I was getting hot until I saw those numbers. Dangit! I hope I don't have to call in sick this weekend.
This is the best smile I could get out of her with the camera in her face. She hasn't yet made the connection that we smile when we see a camera. Notice that she's now able plant both feet on the ground in the jumper. We tried adjusting it to the next higher setting, but she's not quite there yet. She's growing like a weed!
Hoping for a good night and a healthy morning...

  1. Heh heh--that was the first thing that I noticed- that her feet were touching the ground! Hope you guys feel back to normal soon!

  2. What does afebrile mean? You fancy nurse mommy. Hope you are feeling better! Love the image of her falling asleep in your arms, wish it wasn't b/c she was sick.
