37 week appointment

We did a quick ultrasound at this appointment to verify her position, and....

Hooray, she's head-down! I really had no doubt that she was, since I always feel her hiccups below my belly button. But since I was breech myself, I just had to wonder if she was going to follow in mommy's footsteps...er, buttsteps, as it were. Her heart rate was in the 140's and she's measuring appropriately. To date, I've gained 30 pounds.

The clinic was running behind/late, so we deferred a dilation check. Besides, I'm not contracting painfully, and I've had no other signs of latent or early labor, so why stir up any trouble? I'm glad there wasn't any time or reason to check my dilation, I think it would have just made me anxious about what kind of progress I'd be making in the next week. Not to mention, it would have made me cramp/contract. We can hold off on that for another week or two, thank you very much.

After my appointment, I ate lunch and then headed back to the salon where I had my hair cut earlier in the day. When I was there for my haircut, the gal who washed my hair was one of the salon's massage therapists, and made my scalp feel great. She mentioned that she had an opening in the afternoon for a prenatal massage, so I went back for it! I didn't realize how sore my feet were from working until she started massaging them! And it felt great to have my puffy hands rubbed. It didn't decrease the swelling, but it felt like the fluid was at least mobilizing a little bit. I think every pregnant woman should have a prenatal massage at least once during their pregnancy.

That's all for today. Thanks for checking in!
