38 weeks!

No real significant developmental updates at this point anymore. She's just gaining approximately 1/2 an ounce a day and hanging out until she decides it's time. By now she probably has a full head of hair, strong grasping fingers, and long fingernails that will probably need to be clipped on her first day of life. Every girl should have a manicure on their birthday, no?

My feet got swollen only once this week, and that was after we had pizza for dinner, so I'm totally to blame for that one. My hands are still numb and tingly. I've found that as long as I keep my hands moving right away when I wake up, I can avoid the burning, hands-on-fire sensation. If I've worked a day shift, then it also helps if I pre-medicate with Tylenol before going to bed, otherwise I wake up at around midnight with the flaming fingers.

Here's a photo from yesterday, I think that shirt made me look bigger than I really am, but it's totally cute, so I wore it all day!

Tomorrow the girls at work are throwing me a baby shower (while I'm working...I have a feeling it will busy and I'll get away just long enough to shove food in my mouth and open presents). I'm really touched that they are even throwing me one, since I'm so new to the floor and they hardly know me. Their kindness is really overwhelming. My friend Crystal is organizing it, and she brought up a good point: nurses love an excuse for a party! And with this being our first baby, it would be a little sad not to have a shower. Thanks, gals!

I got three more boxes full of baby clothes from my mom today. Thankfully, they're mostly for later down the road, like 12-18 months. But she still snuck some 3-6 month outfits in there! And the shoes! Oh my, this baby now has more shoes than her daddy...and that's including his uniform shoes! If anybody is stumped about what to get us now that we know her closet is abundantly stocked, gift cards to the NEX, Target or Toys R Us (there's no Babies R Us nearby) will be just as appreciated -if not more functional than- apparel gifts.

That's all for today. I know many of you are checking here daily for any signs of labor. Believe me, I'll let y'all know as soon as I know! Thank you for your well-wishings and prayers. Don't forget Mother's Day on May 10th and Nurses Week from May 6th-12th!
