38+4 wk appointment

I was up again at around 2:30 am again, not as much pain in my hands as before, but still bothersome. I just couldn't go back to sleep after I emptied baby's punching bag. I started thinking about how the doctor would probably check me at my appointment and perhaps that would make me contract, and I had a big pile of laundry to wash and sort, so I started laundry at 3am. I didn't get very far, so I don't count that as "nesting," and I haven't had any urge to clean anything else, nor the energy.

My appointment this morning went great. Baby's heartbeat was in the 140's as per her usual. No measuring this time, since she has dropped, so that throws off my fundal height at this point. She hasn't dropped a lot, because I don't feel like I can't close my legs when I walk, but she is definitely lower in my abdomen. Then next half of this paragraph is about the doctor's internal exam, so if you don't want to read about that kind of stuff, I'd skip everything in the brackets... [He did an exam, and I'm 1-2 cm, 50% effaced, and midposition. He didn't mention her station, but it didn't feel like he was reaching for my tonsils, so I'm assuming she's not ballotable or wicked high. He swept membranes a little bit, but it hasn't led to any more cramping than I've already been having.]

It's nice to have Aaron in the know about what's going on up on the maternity ward. He told me after our appointment that if I go into labor, not to come in until later, because they had no room at the inn, but were expecting to have three open rooms by late afternoon. Good to know.

That's all for today! I'll try to post some photos from tuesday's baby shower when I can.
Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. I hope we'll all get to see her sooner rather than later! I'm trying to ward off the post-dates induction fairy!
