No, no, no...get your mind out of the gutter.
Aaron and his brother both have Kitchen Aide mixers with the sausage grinding attachments. They decided to devote a weekend to nothing but sausage grinding, seasoning, and stuffing. Hence, "The Beefcake Brothers' 1st Annual Sausage Fest 2009" was born. And no festival is
complete without tee-shirts to commemorate the event, right? Behold my craftiness:
That's the ever-adorable nephew T-man wearing his toddler-sized Sausage Fest shirt. I superimposed Aaron's and Ryan's faces onto an old photo Lou Ferrigno and Arnold Schwarzenegger and linked the two with a long string of sausages between their hands. I'm pretty proud of it!
Here are some more photos from Sausage Fest '09:
Ryan trimming the pork shoulder, Aaron cutting the turkey
Aaron grinding, T-man supervising
and here I am, twisting strings of links.
All in all, we made 5 types of sausage: Italian Turkey, Bratwurst, Andouille, Sweet Italian, and Spicy Italian. However, the Spicy Italian turned into Super-Salty Italian, so we mixed half of it with all of the Sweet Italian before stuffing them into casings. Improvise, adapt and overcome!
Not a pregnancy-related post, but it was still really fun. And tasty, too!
